Lady Blues Fall at Concord

Athens, W.Va.—The Bluefield State Women's Basketball team lost 49-65 against Concord University tonight in the Carter Center in Athens, W.Va.

In the first half, the Lady Blues stuck with the Mountain Lions and were only down by 1 point at the break, 23-24.

In the third quarter, the Lady Blues came out on fire to take a quick lead, but the Mountain Lions cut the lead quickly. The Lady Blues' tank seemed to run low in the fourth quarter, while the Mountain Lions extended their lead and took the victory.

For the game, the Lady Blues shot 30.5% from the field, 24.1% from the 3-point line, and 40% from the 3-point line. The Mountain Lions shot 31.9% from the field, 23.8% from the 3-point line, and 87.5% from the free-throw line.

The Lady Blues committed 33 turnovers and grabbed 53 rebounds while the Mountain Lions had 16 turnovers and 42 rebounds.

Sophomore Chaunte McDowell (pictured) had 13 points on 4-for-8 from the field, dished out 7 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Freshman Lyndsay Hatfield had 12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.

Junior Tanasia Blake was 1-point shy of a double-double, with 11 rebounds and 9 points.

The Lady Blues next game will be against West Virginia University Institute of Technology on Sat., Nov. 21st at 2:00 p.m. at the Beckley Convention Center in Beckley, W.Va.
