Bluefield, W.Va.— The Bluefield State Men's Basketball team lost 69-85 to cross town rival, Bluefield College, tonight in the Ned E. Shott Gymnasium in Bluefield, W.Va.

In the beginning of the first half, the game was close. Bluefield College took a 6-point lead midway through the half and kept pushing offensively. By the 5 minute mark, the Rams were up by 12 points and pushed the lead to 19 points late.

The Big Blues went on a 6-0 run with a bucket and free-throws by Jamal McCoy and Joshua Windham to cut the lead to 13 points. The Big Blues were down 27-40 at the break. Freshman Chas Harvey led the Big Blues at the half with 9 points.

The Big Blues made it a 10-point game after a three by Chas Harvey right into the second half. The Big Blues picked up their defense and started to get their offense going cutting the lead to 4 points at the 14 minute mark after an and-one for Chas Harvey.

The Rams pushed the lead back up to 10 points, but the Big Blues cut the lead to 2 points after a made three and a layup by Jamal McCoy.

The Rams went on a 9-2 run and then pushed their lead to 18 points after a made three with 4:50 left on the clock. The Big Blues couldn't erase that much of a deficit again and lost the game by 16 points.

For the game, the Big Blues shot 36.4% from the field, 28.6% from three, and 74.2% from the free-throw line. The Rams out-rebounded the Big Blues 43-39 and forced 14 turnovers while only committing 9.

Junior Jamal McCoy (pictured) was a great spark off the bench with 19 points on 4-for-7 from the field and 2-for-2 from three. Freshman Chas Harvey had 21 points on 7-for-14 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. He also had 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal.

Seniors Avery Holliday and Aaron Williams led the team in rebounds with 7 each. Holliday also added 6 points, while Williams had 4 blocks, 2 points, and 2 assists.

The Big Blues host Virginia Union University on Thursday, Dec. 3rd at 7:30 p.m. following the Women's Basketball team who plays St. Augustine's University at 5:30 p.m. in the Ned E. Shott Gymnasium.
