Bluefield, W.Va.—The Bluefield State Women's Basketball team opened up the first game of the 2015 Herb Sims Classic this afternoon in the Ned E. Shott Gymnasium. The Lady Blues lost to Glenville State 44-96.

In the first quarter, the Pioneers struggled a little offensively while the Lady Blues made a few. The Pioneers took a 23-11 lead going into the second quarter.

The Pioneers started to heat up offensively though in the second quarter and out-scored the Lady Blues 35-10 to take a huge advantage at the half, 58-21.

In the second half, the Lady Blues held their opponents' to 38 points, but continued to struggle offensively and lost the game 44-96.

For the game, the Lady Blues shot 29.5% from the field, 16.7% from three, and 60% from the free-throw line. The Lady Blues committed 35 turnovers compared to the Pioneers 14.

Junior Tierra Richberg had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, she also had 2 assists, and 1 block. Freshman Lyndsay Hatfield (pictured) had 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists. Junior Tanasia Blake grabbed double-digit rebounds with 10 and added in 6 points, 3 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal.

The Lady Blues continue play on Saturday, Dec. 19th against The Apprentice School at 2:00 p.m.
