Box Score Bluefield, W.Va.—The Bluefield State Women's Basketball team had a rematch against St. Augustine's University tonight in the Ned E. Shott Gymnasium. The last meeting between the two ended up with a one-point loss in overtime to the Lady Blues. The Falcons fourth quarter sealed the 61-45 victory for St. Augustine's University.

The Falcons took an early 6-0 lead, but the Lady Blues got on the board with a layup by Janae Williams. There was a couple minute stretch where both teams struggled to make a basket. The Lady Blues got within one-point, 8-9 after 2 free-throw shots by Jesslyn Fullerton. But the Falcons hit a jumper at the end of the first quarter to take 14-8 lead.
In the second quarter the Falcons pushed their lead to 10 points after two quick baskets in the first minute of the quarter.
The Lady Blues stuck got within 5 points just under 5 minutes left in the quarter. But, the Falcons pushed their lead to 11 points at the break, 27-16.
Coming out of the half, the Lady Blues went on a run to get within 1 point at the midway point of the quarter, but by the end of the quarter were down by 8 points, 36-44.
The Falcons took over in the fourth quarter, halting the Lady Blues comeback. The Falcons out-scored the Lady Blues 18-9 in the period to take the victory, 61-45.
For the game, the Lady Blues struggled offensively shooting 30% from the field, 0% from three, and 50% from the free-throw line.
Leading the way for the Lady Blues was Junior Tierra Richberg with 15 points. She also had 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal. Senior Janae Williams (pictured) had 9 rebounds, 8 points, 4 blocks, and 2 steals.
Freshman Lyndsay Hatfield had 8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal. Sophomore Jesslyn Fullerton had a solid game with 8 rebounds, 7 points, 2 steals, and 1 assist. Junior tanasia Blake had 7 rebounds, 6 points, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block.
The Lady Blues host University of Pikeville on Sat., Dec. 5th at 3:00 p.m. in the Ned E. Shott Gymnasium.
