This low scoring affair was really attributed to a poor shooting night by both teams. Bluefield State made 16 of 63 (25%) from the floor. They were not any better from downtown going 4-21 (19%). But Bluefield State did improve from the free throw line compared to last week, going 9-14 (64%). Washington Adventist did not have a much better shooting night. The 1st quarter was a close one as both teams were trying to establish ways to break down the defense. No one was able to establish a lead as both teams were evenly matched throughout. And so after the first 10 minutes of play, the teams were knotted at 10 apiece.
The 2nd quarter was not much different for the teams. The shots just were not falling for either team. The Shock managed to gain a 3-point lead and take it into half. But by no means was Bluefield State out of it.
The 3rd quarter was the best shooting quarter for the Blues. BSC was really working the ball around and ended up with 16 points in the quarter. This brought the Lady Blues within 1 at the end of the quarter with the score being 39-38.
