Box Score The Bluefield State Men's Basketball team defeated Davis & Elkins 75-74 by a last second basket by Senior Avery Holliday last night in the McDonnell Center in Elkins, W.Va. The win snaps the Big Blues 3-game losing streak.
In the last few seconds of the game, the Senators had the ball, but turned it over and gave the Big Blues a chance to win, which is exactly what happened. Holliday had enough time to put in a shot to give the Big Blues the 1-point advantage and the win.
For the game, the Big Blues shot 37% from the field, 30% from three, and 80% from the free-throw line. The Senators slightly out-rebounded the Big Blues 46-40 in the game.
Junior Joshua Windham had a great game with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Freshman Chas Harvey was right behind Windham in points with 16, grabbed 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Senior Avery Holliday had the game-winning basket as well as 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Senior Mark Durgan had 15 points, 5 assists, and 1 rebound. Senior Aaron Williams had a team high 11 rebounds, 7 points and 3 blocks. Junior James Day grabbed 8 rebounds with 4 points, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Junior Jamaal McCoy was productive with 7 points and 1 rebound in 11 minutes of play off the bench.
