The Big Blues Lose a Heartbreaker to Davis & Elkins

Box Score

Bluefield, WV- The Big Blues lose a heart breaker at home to the Senators of Davis & Elkins by a final score of 88-79.

It was once again the tail of 2 halves for the Big Blues today as they lose for the second time in a row after leading at half time. The Big Blues had a strong showing to start the game. They were making their shots and playing solid defense holding D&E to 36% shooting in the first half. This along with shooting 43% from the field and 53% from downtown helped the Big Blues build a 14-point for half time.

But the second half did not shape up well for the Big Blues as the Senators came out firing on all cylinders and making 67% of their shots from the floor in the half. The strong defense that the Blues built their lead on in the first half was nowhere to be found and that lead evaporated quickly.

Mark Durgan (4) and Chaz Harvey (1) lead the way in scoring for the Big Blues. Mark went 11-24 scoring from the field and was 3-6 from beyond the arc scoring a total of 34 points. Chaz scored 15 going 4-11 from downtown.

Also at half time during today's game, the 1996 WVIAC Champions were recognized for their 20th anniversary of the Conference Championship.

The Big Blues next game will be on the road on Friday, February 12th at 7:00 p.m. against Belmont-Abbey in Belmont, NC. Check back on our website (http://go-bstate.com/sports/wbkb/2015-16/schedule) for updates on links to Live Video and Live Stats.
