Box Score BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield State men's basketball team fell in their second road game of the season against Carson-Newman University at Holt Fieldhouse Wednesday evening, 59-70. The Big Blue drops to 1-3, while the Eagles improve to 4-4.
Wednesday evening, forward Alex Nunnally got in foul trouble early making, it tough for the Big Blue to dominate inside the paint. However, the men only went into the half down against the Eagles by two. 35-33. In the second half, the Eagles managed to push past the Big Blue and capture the win.
Although the men couldn't find a way to come out on top, there were still numerous players in double digits. Marquez Cooper led the Big Blue with 20 points. Followed by Cooper was Brandon Anyanwu with 12 points. Alongside them was teammate Alex Nunnally with 10 and only 6 rebounds for the night. Nunnally got in foul trouble which, hindered him from putting up his normal numbers.
Eagles leading scorer Ej Bush pushed out 17 points and 5 rebounds. Followed by the second-leading scorer for the eagles, Tripp Davis with, 14 points and 6v rebounds. Forward Ren Dryer managed to get 10 rebounds tonight for the eagles, 6 of those being offensive, which made it tough for the Big Blue to put shots back up on offensive.
The season will continue on Wednesday, February 10 with, a rescheduled game against Salem University. The Big Blue will face the Tigers at T. Edward Davis Gymnasium.
