Box Score CENTRAL, South Carolina - The Bluefield State women's basketball team captured their first road win against Southern Wesleyan Wednesday evening at Historic Tysinger Gymnasium, 72-39. The Big Blue improves to 2-5, while the Warriors drop to 1-5.
Wednesday evening, The Big Blue took a 24-6 lead in the first quarter. All while having 12 turnovers total, the Warriors couldn't benefit from the Big Blue mistakes. The Big Blue captured 23 points off of the Warriors 28 turnovers. The Big Blue went into halftime up by almost 30 points. Continuing the drive, the Big Blue worked their offense and put it together to come out on top for their first road game win of the season.
The Big Blue dominated tonight in the paint, with a 38-18 advantage in points underneath the basket. Forward Derricka Bramwell led the Big Blue in scoring with a season-best of 18 points. Tying with Bramwell was gaurd Katrina Davis capturing a season-best of 18 points. Davis also grabbed the most rebounds for the Big Blue, with eight.
Following their teammates in racking up double digits was Ashlie Louden with 13 points and Ameera McClain with 10 points.
Big stops by the Big Blue defense managing to hold leading scorer Amy Soumare to only 11 points in Wednesday evenings game. Also, stopping second-leading scorer Brooke Henricks, who only scored 5 points tonight. Henricks led her team with 11 in their previous game against King University.

The season will continue Saturday, January 30 on the road against Queens University of Charlotte. The Big Blue will face the Royals at Curry Arena at 2:00 p.m.
