VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia - The Bluefield State Volleyball team (12-11) won the semi-final game at USCAA Championship against the University of Maine at Fort Kent Friday in the Virginia Beach Field House, 3-2.
The Big Blue will play in the Championship game Saturday, November 13 against Saint Mary of The Woods. The first serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
"So proud of the girls and their efforts tonight. They did a great job mentally of understanding adjustments that had to be made and moving past errors. Our blocks did a great job at getting touches tonight and the girls made the decision to not let balls hit the floor. ," said Head Coach

Bluefield State got off to a slow start as the Bengals took set one, 25-22. UMFK snatched set two from the Big Blue, 25-19. The Big Blue came back strong to win sets three and four, forcing a fifth set. The Big Blue went on to victory winning set five, 15-12.
Kate Dashevska led the Big Blue with 24 kills and 23 digs, grabbing another double-double this season.
Anna Esquivel led the team in digs with 19. Along with
Veronica Butler with 13 digs. Butler had big production tonight with 42 assists.
"Being such a young team, I was so inspired by their discipline to lock in those last three sets. It was a great match versus UMFK. Hats off to them for a great game as well. I'm just so proud of Bluefield State Volleyball! Time to refocus for tomorrow." said coach Hammond.
