Women's Hoops Drops First Of Two Games To Kentucky State, 50-63

RANFORT, Kentucky - The Bluefield State women's basketball team fell to Kentucky State University Friday evening at William Exum Center, 50-63. The Big Blue drops to 2-10, while the Thorobreds improve to 1-3.

 

Friday evening, The Big Blue struggled to get something going in the first two quarters. The Big Blue kept it close nonetheless, going into the half down by 7, 15-22. The Big Blue came back early in the third quarter and tied it up, 25-25. At the end of the third, the Big Blue were down by 3, 38-41. The fourth quarter looked a lot like the first two quarters, where the Big Blue couldn't put anything together. 

 

The Big Blue managed to capture more points off the bench, 7-3. Although it wasn't the outcome expected for the Big Blue, Dani Janutolo led with 12 points and four rebounds. Followed by Derricka Bramwell with 11 points. 

 

The Big Blue struggled on defense Friday evening, giving up 21 defensive rebounds to the Thorobreds. Leading the Thorobreds tonight was Sarah Woghiren with 18 points. Followed by her teammate Andrea Wallace with 16 points and seven rebounds. The Thorobreds also had a 26-12 advantage in points in the paint over the Big Blue. 

 

 

 

Up Next...

The season will continue tomorrow afternoon with the second game against Kentucky State. The Big Blue will face the Thorebreds at William Exum Center at 1 p.m.
