MBB Fall to Golden Bulls

Charlotte, NC – Bluefield State University men's basketball fell to Johnson C. Smith 100-95 on Wednesday.

Kaine McColley and Malik Tidwell led the Big Blue with 23 points each. Landry Palata added 17 points followed by Jordan Hinds with 14 points and six rebounds.

The Golden Bulls jumped out to an early lead, scoring the first seven points of the game. The Big Blue evened the score at 27 after Hirotaka Ohashi found Palata for the three. The Big Blue took their first lead of the night after Tidwell forced a turnover and took it the other way for two. The Big Blue would score 11 unanswered points to take the 40-29 advantage. The Golden Bulls battled back to come within one but the Big Blue answered with nine consecutive points. The Golden Bulls would cut the deficit to four going into the half.

The Golden Bulls would take back the lead midway through the second half 68-66. A three-point play by Tidwell would even the score at 81 and then again at 87 by a layup from Palata. A dunk for the Golden Bulls put them ahead by seven in the final two minutes. McColley would hit back-to-back threes to put the Big Blue down by one with 45 seconds to go, but the Golden Bulls would close out play with four points to take the victory over Bluefield State.
