BLUEFIELD  – The Bluefield State men's basketball team dropped to Salem University in their last regular-season game in Ned E. Shott  Gym, 96-93.
 The Big Blue will travel to Richmond, Virginia to face Paul Quinn for the USCAA National Championship. Mar. 7. Tipoff is set at 10:00 a.m.
Khamaury McMillan completed a layup inside the paint to put the Big Blue up by 10 over the Tigers at the 13-minute mark. Darius Bell completed a layup at the 10-minute mark to put the Tigers back within four, 29-25. 
Five minutes down the stretch the Big Blue would go back up by 12 with a layup inside the paint by Marquez Cooper, 44-32. Fonz Hale cut the Big Blue lead to three with:43 left. Cooper quickly added two right before halftime to put the Big Blue up by five, 53-48.
Kesean Robinson hit a jumper at the 17-minute mark in the second half to give the Big Blue another 10-point lead. Tobias Howard completed a layup inside the paint to cut the Big Blue under 10 with 10:29 to go in the second half. 
The Big Blue never saw a double-digit lead for the remainder of the half. The Tigers tied it up at the 6-minute mark with a three-pointer by Stan Smith, 81-81. McMillan added two with a layup in the paint to put the Big Blue back up, 83-81. The Tigers quickly tied back up at 83 with a layup by Hale. 
Smith gave the Tigers the lead at the 4-minute mark with a three-pointer, 88-85. McMillan completed an old fashion three to tie the game up at 88 with 4:00 remaining. 
Barron Tanner quickly drained a three for the Tigers to give them back the lead, 91-88. Cooper tied it up with a layup inside the paint with 1:32 left, 93-93. Jordan Hinds fouled, sending Howard to the line for two. Howard made 1/2 putting the Tigers up by one, 94-93. 
With:06 left, Hirotaka Ohashi fouled sending Howard back to the line. This time Howard made both free throws, securing the Tiger's win over the Big Blue. 
Marquez Cooper led with 28 points on 9-22 shooting. Cooper added seven rebounds in 37 minutes. 
 Hirotaka Ohashi followed with 13 points 4-10 shooting. Hinds added nine assists and eight rebounds in 39 minutes. 
Jordan Hinds added 13 points on 4-9 shooting. Hinds added three assists in 21 minutes. 
Khamaury McMillan added 11 points on 4-7 shooting. 
Overall, the team shot 31-71 for 43.7%. 
They were 5-17 for 29.4% from the three-point line.
The team was also 26 of 31 on free throws.
The Tigers outrebounded the Big Blue 50-33.
