Wrestling Drops a Tough One to Queens, Falls to King in Tri-Match

BRISTOL, Tennessee - The Bluefield State wrestling team fell a hard-fought battle to Queens Wednesday evening in a Tri-Match in the Student Center Complex, 24-23. 

DeShawn Cosby (149) defeated Lucas Comroe on a Technical Fall, 18-5 in 5:08. Cosby earned the first five points of the evening for the Big Blue. 

Justin Fritz (174) defeated Stephon Halliburton on a decision (9-7). Fritz earned another three points for the Big Blue. 

Gregory Dennard (197) earned the last three for the Big Blue of the evening, defeating Austin Watkins on a decision (2-1).  

Queens had three forfeits and two wins over the Big Blue, giving them the team win for the evening. 

Match v. King:

The Big Blue dropped to King Unversity in their second match of the day, 37-9.

Elijah Hicks (133) defeated Roby Thomas in a major decision (10-1). Hicks earned four points for the Tornado. 

David Varner (174) defeated Justin Fritz in a close decision, (7-4). Varner added another three points for the Tornado.

Gregory Dennard gave the Big Blue their first three in the second match. Dennard defeated Samari Suddeath in a decision, (2-0).

Brian Shaw earned the final six points for the Big Blue with a forfeit from the Tornado.

The Big Blue will travel to Wheeling for a dual match. Thursday, Feb. 10 The first match is set for 6:00 p.m.
