Bluefield, WV- Big Blue Women's Soccer took down Glenville State 2-0 to earn back-to-back shut out wins.
The Pioneers opened up the first half with two shots on goal in the first four minutes, but Big Blue goalie, Rylee Truslow collected the save on both. Despite multiple shots from both sides, it took until the 37th minute and a goal by Emmery Cress to give the Big Blue the 1-0 lead. The Pioneers would take two more shots before the half, but could not overcome the 1-0 deficit before the half.
Bluefield State added to their lead in the first minute of the second half after Isabella Esteves found Kira Zoeller to extend 2-0. The Big Blue saw very physical play in the second half and was outshot 7-5 but held strong to come away with the 2-0 victory over Glenville State.
"We knew today would be a physical game where work rate and desire to win would be needed to overcome an organized and combative opponent" Said Scott Forster. "A back-to-back shut outs giving us these wins to start the season really demonstrates our spirit and togetherness."
