Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University men's basketball fell to Winston Salem State University 82-71. The Big Blue move to 6-3 (0-1 CIAA) with the Rams moving to 3-7 (1-0 CIAA).
The Rams struck first, but the Big Blue answered with three consecutive buckets to take the 6-3 lead. A layup from Clay Baldwin extended the Big Blue lead to seven, but the Rams took back the lead at the 9:34 mark. A midrange jumper from Ja'Mere Redus put the Big Blue ahead in the final four minutes of the first half, but the Rams took the lead by four in the final minute. A three by Nduka Ogwu cut the Rams lead to one going into the half.
The Rams quickly extended their lead to three, but a three from Jaylen Bernard evened the score at 41. After the score was tied at 53, Jordan Hinds scored seven consecutive points to give the Big Blue the 60-53 lead. The Rams battled back to tie it up at 60 midway through the half. The Big Blue would pull within one with six minutes left to play, but the Rams would go on to outscore the Big Blue to take the 82-71 victory over the Big Blue.
Ja'Mere Redus led the scoring for the Big Blue with 19, with Jordan Hinds adding 18 points and eight rebounds.
