MBB Outlasts Johnson & Wales

Charlotte, NC – Bluefield State University men's basketball took down Johnson & Wales (NC) on Monday 116-109 at JWU Wildcat Center.

Malik Tidwell led all scorers with 38 points followed by Jordan Hinds with 27, Kaine McColley with 22 and Chase Page with ten. McColley led the Big Blue with eight rebounds on the night.

The Wildcats struck first, but the Big Blue answered with a three from Hinds to take the lead. The Big Blue built up a lead of six after a layup from Rylan Bowens at the 13:21 mark. The Wildcats tied it at 31 at the midway point, but the Big Blue answered with a three from McColley. With six minutes left in play, the Wildcats took the eight-point lead. The Big Blue battled back to even the score at 56 with two minutes left in the first half. After trading back-and-forth buckets, Tidwell hit a three with ten seconds remaining to take the Big Blue into the half with the 62-59 advantage.

The Wildcats opened with back-to-back buckets to even the score at 64. After four tied scores and the Wildcats taking the lead, the Big Blue scored eight unanswered points to take the seven-point lead. The Wildcats cut the Big Blue deficit to four with 16 seconds left in play, but a freethrow from Tidwell and two from Hinds secured the 116-109 victory over Johnson & Wales (NC).
