Anderson, SC – Bluefield State University Baseball opened their season with a series win over Anderson University (0-6), (1-0), and (10-9).
Game Two
After going scoreless in game one, the Big Blue bounced back to take game two 1-0. The lone run of the game came from a leadoff homerun over left field in the fourth by Cole Cote. Zach Powell earned the win on the mound for the Big Blue, throwing the complete shutout giving up five hits, four walks and striking out six.
Game Three
Anderson University scored one run in the first and another in the second to take the early lead over the Big Blue. Curtis Ball lead off the fifth with a double to right field followed by a walk from Jordan Varela-Payne. Cote blasted a triple to right center to bring in two runs for the Big Blue. In the sixth, the Big Blue added six runs to take the lead 8-2. Varela-Payne drew the bases loaded walk to bring one across the plate followed by a single to center field from Cote to add another. Tyson Mickie singled to left field and advanced to second on an error by the Trojans to bring in three. Mickie came home on a wild pitch to score the sixth run of the inning. The Big Blue added one in the eights and one in the ninth to complete the series win over Anderson. A sacrifice fly from Brantley Durham brought in Varela-Payne in the eighth and a triple from Tahir Meulens in the ninth to bring in Korbin Bostic. Jordan Livingstone threw seven innings for the Big Blue to secure the win followed by Jason Fernandez with the save.

The Big Blue will travel to Savannah, GA to compete against Savannah State University in a double header contest Saturday, February 11th and a single game on Sunday, February 12th.
