Charlotte, NC- Bluefield State University men's basketball fell to Johnson C. Smith 87-75. The Big Blue move to 6-10 (3-4 CIAA) and the Golden Bulls move to 8-4 (3-2 CIAA) on the season.
The Big Blue got on the board first after a jumper from Clay Baldwin, but the Golden Bulls took the lead by three. A three from Jaylen Bernard evened the score but the Golden Bulls answered with back-to-back buckets to take the lead 9-5. At the 4:11 mark, the Golden Bulls built a lead of 15. Back-to-back threes from Ja'Mere Redus and Chase Page and a midrange jumper from Jordan Hinds cut the Golden Bulls lead to seven. With less then a minute left in the half, a bucket from Hinds pulled the Big Blue within six, but the Golden Bulls would take the 40-32 advantage into the half.
Midway through the half, the Golden Bulls would have their largest lead of the night at 25. With less then two minutes left in play, a layup from Daron Traylor pulled the Big Blue within nine but the Golden Bulls would score the next six out of eight points to take down the Big Blue 87-75.
Jordan Hinds led all scorers with 32 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Clay Baldwin came away 13 points with Ja'Mere Redus adding 11 points and seven assists.
