Bluefield, WV - Bluefield State University men's basketball fell to Davis & Elkins 87-78 on Saturday. The Big Blue fall to 4-2 with the Senators moving to 4-2 on the year.
Down 4-2 one minute into play, the Big Blue scored eight consecutive points to take the 9-4 lead. Later in the half, the Senators took the one point lead after scoring seven in a row. Down eight with five minutes left in the first, a layup from Jordan Hines pulled the Big Blue within two of the Senators. The Senators extended their lead to four but a bucket from Shainen Carter took the Big Blue into the half trailing by two, 41-39.
A dunk from Hinds at the 17:41 mark cut the Senators lead to one. Midway through the half, the Senators extended their lead 73-61. Five consecutive points from Hinds with 4:36 left to play, but the Senators offense pushed them to victory, 87-78.
Hinds led all players with 27 points followed by Carter with 16 points and nine rebounds with Larry Howell adding 11 and Rell Williams coming away with 10.
