Dunbar, WV – Bluefield State University women's basketball dropped a road contest at West Virginia State 90-76. The Big Blue drops to 1-3 on the season.
The Big Blue opened strong with a 19-17 first quarter, forcing 10 turnovers to take the two-point lead into the second. Momentum shifted to the Yellow Jackets in the second, outscoring the Big Blue 34-19 to take the 51-38 advantage into the half. Despite a 23-point third quarter from the Big Blue, the Yellow Jackets continued to capitalize on second-chance points to hold off the Big Blue.
Jasmine Jenkins led the Big Blue with 16 points, five rebounds and two steals. Tianna Rhodes added 14 points while Jhakia Gist finished with 11 points, three steals and two assists. The Big Blue forced 34 turnovers and scored 30 points off those miscues.
