Virginia Beach, VA—The Bluefield State University men's and women's track teams traveled to Virginia Beach, Virginia, to compete in the Betty S Rogers Track & Field Invitational.
The team recorded a plethora of personal bests, including Ethan Spangler, who set a personal record in the weighted throw and shot put. 14 different athletes made it to the finals, and a total of 16 found themselves in the top 10 in their perspective events.
Once again, old and faithful, Robert Scott set a new PR and school record in the 200 m 22.02, placing second. McKinley Pennix placed 5th in the long jump with a jump of 21'75" 10th in the 400m with a time of 52.86.
On the women's side, Kiana Casimir placed 5th in the 60m hurdles at 8.19 with Kellie Williams placing 7th in the 800m with a time of 2:40.74 and 8th in the mile at 6:16.18. Genesis Lee came in 7th in the 400m with a time of 1:03.02. In shot put, Oliviah Green came away with 5th (9.32m) and 4th in the weight throw (11.66m).
Up Next: The Big Blue will travel to Hampton, VA, for the CIAA Conference Championship on February 16th -17th.
