Wise, VA – Bluefield State University baseball dropped two games against the Cavilers, 11-6 and 8-5.
Game One – 11-6 L
The Big Blue got on the board first after a double from Kevin Rodriguez brought home Daniel "Jr" Powell and Caleb Roofe to take the 2-0 lead. The Cavaliers answered in the bottom of the inning with five to take the 5-2 lead. The Cavaliers added two in the third and one in the fourth and fifth innings. The Big Blue pulled within five after a double from Jordan Batten brought home Roofe and Nick Diaz in the sixth. Down by seven in the seventh inning, Roofe singled to right-center to bring home James Germosen, who drew the lead-off walk. Later in the inning, a sacrifice fly from Batten brought in Anderson Moreno, but the Big Blue ran out of time, falling 11-6.
Grayson Peel picked up the loss for the Big Blue, throwing two innings and giving up five hits, zero walks, and 2 strikeouts.
Game Two – 8-5 L
The Big Blue brought home three in the second inning, but the Cavaliers answered with two in the bottom and two more in the third. Down by two in the fifth, Angel Martinez led off with a double to center, followed by Batten reaching on a fielder's choice. Germosen singled to left field to bring in the first run, and Moreno walked to load the bases. Germosen was later brought around to even the score at five. The Cavaliers scored five in the bottom of the inning to take the 8-5 victory over the Big Blue.
Will Ricketts collected the loss on the mound for the Big Blue, throwing one inning giving up three hits and two walks.
