Winston-Salem, NC — Bluefield State University got back in the win column with a 98-78 victory over Winston-Salem State. The Big Blue improve to 13-9 (6-5 CIAA) on the year, while the Rams fall to 2-18 (0-11 CIAA).
Down by three, the Big Blue scored 10 consecutive points to take the 15-8 lead. The Big Blue extended their lead to 15 after a layup from Travon Cooper. The Big Blue closed out the first half with back-to-back threes to take the 59-38 lead into the half.
The Big Blue had their largest lead of the night after a layup from Cooper, 61-38. The Rams cut the Big Blue lead to 10 with 8:03 left to play. The Big Blue scored eight in a row to extend their lead by 16. The Big Blue scored for the final time with a layup from Kemar Benn to push the lead to 98-76. The Big Blue came away with the 20-point victory, 98-78.
Jordan Hinds led all scorers with 31 points and six rebounds, followed by Larry Howell with 16 points, Romeo Aquino with 13, Rell Williams with 11, and Shainen Carter with 10.
