Box Score Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University Big Blue Caleb Roofe hit his second walk-off of the season to secure the 10-9 victory over Lincoln Memorial University.
The Splitters took the early lead, scoring one in the first, two in the third, and two in the fourth. Nick Diaz reached first on a fielder's choice, followed by a double from Caleb Roofe. James Germosen flew out to right field to bring home two for the Big Blue. Tyson Mickie pulled the Big Blue within two with a home run to left field.
Germosen singled to left field in the bottom of the sixth. After back-to-back stolen bases by Germosen and an error by the Splitters, Germosen scored to make the score 5-4. The Splitters extended their lead 7-4 in the seventh, but the Big Blue added one in the bottom of the inning after a Splitter miscue. The Splitters pushed their lead to four, but a Germosen double followed by a triple from Mickie scored one for the Big Blue.
Going into the bottom of the ninth down by three, pinch hitter Sabastian Ortega drew the walk, and Angel Martinez was hit by the pitch. Anderson Moreno drew the walk to load the bases. Diaz collected two RBIs to pull the Big Blue within one with two outs. Diaz and Moreno advanced into scoring position after a passed ball. Roofe singled to center field to drive home two runs to secure the victory for the Big Blue, 10-9.
Benny Fiens started on the mound for the Big Blue, throwing two innings, giving up three hits, one run, and struck out one. Colton Roberts collected the win, throwing the ninth inning.
