Wheeling, WV – Bluefield State University baseball fell to Wheeling University 12-5.
The Big Blue got on the board early after a single from Tyson Mickie drove home one. Wheeling took the lead in the bottom of the inning, 3-1. The Big Blue pulled within two in the fifth after a sacrifice fly from Anderson Moreno brought one across the plate. Wheeling pushed their lead 11-2 in the bottom of the inning. The Big Blue cut the deficit to seven in the ninth but couldn't overcome Wheeling 12-5.
Jonah Brower collected the loss on the mound, throwing four innings, giving up seven hits and four runs, and striking out two.
Anderson Moreno and Kevin Rodriguez led the Big Blue with two hits each, with Angel Martinez, Andrew Scarberry, Nick Diaz, Tyson Mickie, and Caleb Roofe each coming away with one hit on the night.
