Salisbury, NC – Bluefield State University men's and women's Track & Field had a record-breaking weekend across the board at the Livingstone Blue Bear Invitational.
Starting off the day, Junior Mckinley Pennix broke a school record with a jump of 6.85m, ranking him 4th in the CIAA. Freshmen Wilthin Alcime followed with two new school records in the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles, with times of 15.76 and 58.32. Robert Scott III ran 11.00s in the 100m, breaking the school record, and 21.49s in the 200m, breaking the school record and ranking him 3rd in the CIAA.
On the Throws Side, Freshmen Ronny Astudillo led the way with 38.84m, with Junior Zachary Pennington and Senior Thomas Smith, respectively, with 36.56m and 36.43m throws and registering a lifetime personal best. In the Javelin, Luke Roberts threw a huge personal best with a throw of 47.90m, which ranks him first in the conference, followed by another strong throw from Sherman Franklin in a distance of 44.17m, which ranks 4th in the conference.
On the women's side, the Big Blue enjoyed some great individual performances, which led to some strong rankings in the CIAA. Kiana Casimir opened up her junior season with times of 12.98 and 26.87 in the 100m and 200m. Senior Dynasty Andrews threw a strong season opening throw of 10.72m in Shot Put. Junior Khrisalyn Kegler and Genesis Lee ran 1:09.57 and 1:12.56 in the 400m hurdles. Junior Olivia Green capped off the record-setting weekend with a lifetime personal best of 36.10 in Discus, breaking the school record.
