Petersburg, VA – Despite some mishaps and injuries, Bluefield State University Track & Field acquired 12 new personal bests in the VSU Peggy Davis Memorial Invitational.
Among the 12 new PRs were Oliviah Green in the discus with a throw of 37.56m (3rd), Hannah Mae Catungal in shot put with a throw of 9.23m (4th) and Dynasty Andrews with a 1st finish with a throw of 11.42m. Kellie Williams took 5th in the 1500m with a time of 5:42.35.
On the men's side, Thomas Smith threw 38.49m in the discus to take 7th. Shyheim Holmes finished with a time of 51.83s in the 400m. Samuel Olokeogun ran a 11.73 100m with Spencer Carter running a 23.44 200m. In the field events, Joesph Isaacs threw 33.17m for a PR, with Samba Jah throwing 12.39m in shot put for 6th place. DeMonte Martin secured 3rd in the high jump with a mark of 1.88m, with Din Rayche finishing 4th, 1.78m.
The Big Blue came home with five first-place finishes: Robert Scott III in the 100m (10.63s), Wilthin Alcime in the 400m hurdles (58.44s), Khrisalyn Kegler in the 400m hurdles (1:09.87), Dynasty Andrews in shot put (11.42m) and Darius Brown in the triple jump (14.50m).
