Cadiz, OH – Bluefield State University baseball utilized a seven-run eighth inning to secure the 10-5 victory over West Liberty.
The Big Blue got on the board early, scoring two in the first and adding one in the fourth to take the 3-0 lead. In the eighth, Curtis Ball reached on an error to lead off the frame, followed by Edwin Hernandez being hit by the pitch. Jack Sams delivered an RBI single to bring home one, and Blake McKinney later walked to load the bases. Angel Martinez then cleared two runners with a double to left field, followed by a two-RBI double from Kevin Rodriquez. Nate Rollins reached on an error to drive in another run, and Adriel Martinez capped the scoring with an RBI double to push the lead 10-0.
Grayson Peel earned the win on the mound, throwing seven innings, giving up seven hits, three walks and striking out two.
West Liberty attempted a late comeback, scoring five runs in the eight, but the Big Blue held firm to secure the 10-5 win.
