Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University baseball dropped two road contests against WVU Tech, 7-1, and Point Park, 2-1.
Game One vs. WVU Tech – 7-1 L
A Kevin Rodriguez homerun in the first put the Big Blue on top, but the Golden Bears answered with three to take the 3-1 lead. The Golden Bears added one in the fourth and sixth and two in the eighth to secure the 7-1 lead.
Kevin Rodriguez led the Big Blue with two hits and one RBI. Nate Rollins added two hits with Blake Mckinney coming away with one. Jaedin Guerra took the loss on the mound, throwing 1.2 innings allowing four hits, three runs, three walks while striking out one.
Game Two vs. Point Park – 2-1 L
After both teams went scoreless through four innings, the Big Blue got on the board in the fifth. Blake Mckinney drew the leadoff walk and later stole second to move into scoring position. Adriel Martinez doubled to bring home Mckinney. The Pioneers got on the board in the seventh to secure the 2-0 win.
Rollins, Rodriguez and Adriel Martinez combined for the three Big Blue hits. Benny Fiens collected the loss on the mound, throwing 2.0 innings allowing two hits and one run.
