Athens, WV – Bluefield State University men's and women's Track & Field dominated at the Concord Open Invitational, taking first on both the men's and women's side.
The Big Blue started off the day with two school records in the men's and women's 4x100 with times of 42.14s and 48.84s respectively. Kiana Casimir set the school record in the 100m and took first place with a time of 12.44s. Casimir continued by breaking her own school record in the 200m dash with a time of 26.06. In the women's long jump, Taniyah Hicks broke the school record on her final attempt, with a distance of 5.59m. "Setting records isn't the goal," said head coach Wesley Arthur. "But it's a very nice outcome of the hard work they have been putting in."
In the 400m, four Big Blue added their name to the All-time list: Cornelius Matthews 49.99s, Shyheim Holmes 50.46s, Trey Hayes 50.77s, and Genesis Lee 1:00.66. Ja'miyah Walker continues to dominate her freshman season, taking 1st in the women's discus and shot put. Nellie Ambriton and Ean Nance added their names to the all-time list in the men's 800 with a time of 2:00.68 and 2:05.01, making them 2nd and 4th all time. CIAA Indoor Field Athlete of the Year returned to the runway and took a second-place finish with a jump of 14.35m.
