Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State wide receiver Brandon Wiley has been named to the 2026 Deacon Jones Player of the Year Watch List, announced by the Black College Football Hall of Fame.
Wiley is coming off a breakout 2025 campaign, establishing himself as an offensive threat in the CIAA. Wiley pulled in 41 receptions for 750 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging 18.29 yards per catch and 75.0 yards per game.
The Deacon Jones Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding football player from a Historically Black College or University. Four finalists for the award will be unveiled at the conclusion of the regular season. The winner will be presented with the Deacon Jones Trophy during halftime at the 2027 Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl on Saturday, February 27th, in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Big Blue will kick off their season at Tusculum University, Thursday, August 27th, at 6 p.m.
