A native of Spring Lake, North Carolina, Cedric Currie joined the Bluefield State University men’s basketball coaching staff after a successful playing career highlighted by championship experience and a passion for developing student-athletes.
Currie attended Pine Forest High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where he established himself as a dedicated student-athlete before continuing his basketball career at Fayetteville State University. As a member of the Broncos men’s basketball program, he helped the team capture the 2021–22 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Men’s Basketball Championship, an experience that reinforced the values of discipline, preparation, accountability, and teamwork.
Currie earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education from Fayetteville State University before continuing his education and earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in General Business. His academic background, combined with his experience as a collegiate student-athlete, has equipped him with the leadership, communication, and organizational skills that he brings to coaching every day.
His experiences as both a student-athlete and graduate student have shaped a coaching philosophy centered on servant leadership, player development, and building meaningful relationships. He believes in developing the whole student-athlete by emphasizing excellence in the classroom, on the court, and within the community.
As an assistant coach at Bluefield State University, Currie contributes to all aspects of the men’s basketball program, including player development, recruiting, scouting, practice planning, game preparation, and academic support. He is dedicated to creating a championship culture built on accountability, hard work, and selflessness while helping student-athletes reach their full potential.
Currie is committed to preparing young men for success beyond basketball by instilling the values of integrity, resilience, and leadership. His championship experience, educational background, and passion for mentoring continue to drive his mission of helping Bluefield State Men’s Basketball compete at the highest level while developing leaders for life.
