Rachael Rexroat joins the Bluefield State University coaching staff after a two-season stint leading the men’s and women’s sprint groups as an assistant coach at Lees-McRae College (NCAA Division II) in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Selected as a member of the 2020-2021 USTFCCCA Female Coaching Mentorship Program, Rexroat coached Bobcat athletes who set six school records and earned 10 all-Conference Carolinas nods. Her training group included Britney Augustin, the most decorated sprinter in LMC history.
At Brescia University in Owensboro, Kentucky, her sprint group set 13 school records and earned seven all-conference honors.
During the 2015-16 season, Rexroat assisted Head Coach Chris Parsons as the Cabell-Midland men’s cross country and track and field programs earned a pair of West Virginia Secondary School Athletic Association Class AAA team championships.
She started her coaching career as a student assistant coach at Glenville State College, her alma mater. There, she competed in long sprints and middle-distance races and was a member of the GSC cross country team. She was a captain, a member of the school record-setting 4X400m relay team, winner of the WVIAC Senior Scholar Athlete Award and the Williams Award for the school’s outstanding athlete, scholar, leader, and person of high moral character, and member of the WVIAC All-Academic team.
She holds USA Track and Field Level II Certification in endurance events.
Rexroat earned a Master of Science Degree in Sports Administration from Marshall University and a double-major Bachelor of Arts Degree in physical education and health education from Glenville State College. An experienced collegiate admissions officer and faculty member, she has taught courses in sports management, health, and physical education at Appalachian State University, Lees-McRae College, and Kentucky Wesleyan College.
She lives in Bluefield with her husband Brooks and their dog, Eeyore.
