Bluefield, W.Va.— The Bluefield State Volleyball team hosted a Tri-Match between Bluefield College and Ohio Christian University Saturday in the Ned E. Shott Gymnasium.
Match 1 Box Score
In the first match of the day the Lady Blues defeated their rival Bluefield College Lady Rams 3-1 (18-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-21). Bluefield College took the first set 25-18 with a dominating performance offensively combining for 14 kills.
During the second set, the Lady Blues seen themselves down the majority of the set, but tied the set, and eventually took the lead and the set 25-21. Sophomore Brittany Bonamy stepped up offensively with 6 kills on 7 attempts for the set.
In the third set, Junior Tyann Thomas had a couple monster kills late in the set. The Lady Rams didn't quit and took the lead 23-22. But, the Lady Blues came right back to score 2 points to take a 24-23 lead and the set 25-23 after a kill by Brittney Deveaux. Lady Blues take a 2-1 lead after 3 sets played.
During the fourth set, both teams continued to battle, the score going back and forth. The Lady Blues out hit the Lady Rams 16 kills to 7 kills in the set and ultimately won 25-21 to take the victory 3-1.
The Lady Blues out hit the Lady Rams 57 kills to 40 kills. Also, the Lady Blues had 10 serving aces to the Lady Rams' 6 serving aces.
Sophomore Brittney Deveaux (pictured) had a fantastic game with 17 kills on 21 attempts with only 1 error, which comes out to a .725 hitting percentage. Sophomore Brittany Bonamy had 15 kills, Juniors Tyann Thomas had Sashane Watson had 12 kills and 11 kills respectively.
Sophomore Alee Quint had 26 set assists. Sophomore Jessie Rehwald had the team high 12 digs and added in 7 serving aces.

In the second match of the Tri-Match, Ohio Christian University Trailblazers outlasted the Bluefield College Lady Rams in 5 sets with a 3-2 (25-20, 19-25, 15-25, 25-14, and 15-11) victory.
Match 3 Box Score
In the third and final match of the day, the Lady Blues defeated the Ohio Christian University Trialblazers 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, and 25-14). With the 2 wins today, the Lady Blues winning streak goes to eight and their record goes to 12-4 on the season.
The two differences in the match were the Lady Blues had 35 kills and 6 serving aces compared to the Trailblazers 24 kills and 1 serving ace.
The kills were spread out amongst 7 different players for the Lady Blues. Brittney Deveaux had another good game and led the way with 9 kills on 13 attempts and added in 4 block assists. Brittany Bonamy had 7 kills, Tanasia Blake and Tyann Thomas each had 6 kills. Sashane Watson had 5 kills and 5 blocking assists.
Alee Quint added in 19 set assists and 2 serving aces. Thais Nogueira-Nunes had 3 servings aces, team high for the match.
The Lady Blues next face Salem College on Oct. 14th at 7:00 p.m. in Winston-Salem, NC. The Lady Blues defeated the Spirits earlier in the season.
