Box Score Ettrick, VA.— The Bluefield State Volleyball team lost to Virginia State 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 16-25, 20-25) at Daniel Gymnasium in Ettrick, VA. The loss brings the Lady Blues 13 game winning streak to an end and their overall record to 17-5 on the season.

The Lady Blues came out swinging grabbing the first set of the game, but then, lost 3 straight to lose the match. Virginia State out-hit the Lady Blues slightly with 40 kills, 19 errors on 114 attempts compared to 37 kills, 24 errors on 110 attempts. Also, Virginia State racked up 12 serving aces compared to the Lady Blues 9 serving aces.
Junior Tyann Thomas led the Lady Blues with 12 kills, she also had 7 digs, 1 solo block and 1 block assist. Sophomore Brittney Deveaux (pictured) had the best attack percentage in the game with a .444, she had 10 kills with 2 errors on 18 attempts. She also had 3 digs and 2 block assists. Deveaux is currently ranked #1 in the nation (Division II) with the highest attack percentage of .518 on the season. Senior Sashane Watson and Junior Tanasia Blake each tallied 6 kills each. Sophomore Alee Quint had 24 set assists, 8 digs, and 1 serving aces. Sophomore Jessie Rehwald led the team in digs with 12 in the match. She also had 3 serving aces and 2 set assists.
The Lady Blues look to get back on the winning side on Tuesday, Oct. 27th when they host Salem International University at 6:00 p.m. The Lady Blues 2 seniors (Ashley Reid and Sashane Watson) will be recognized before the match.
