Box Score Cedarville, OH- The Bluefield State Men's Basketball team suffered a 5-point loss to Cedarville University tonight in Callan Athletic Center.
The Yellow Jackets started out on fire to go on a 14-0 run to start the game. The Big Blues made their first basket by Chas Harvey with 14:30 on the clock. The Yellow Jackets extended their lead to 15 points two different times in the first half.
The Big Blues got within 5 points with 8:03 on the clock, but couldn't keep it there. The Yellow Jackets went on a 13-5 run to finish the half, taking a 38-25 advantage.
In the second half, the Big Blues got on the board quickly with a layup by Aaron Williams. The Big Blues went on a 12-2 run to cut the lead to 3 points in just 4 minutes of play. At the 10:47 mark, the Big Blues took their first lead of the game 51-50 after a made basket by Aaron Williams.
For the next seven minutes or so, the lead changed hands numerous times with both teams making baskets. With 3:06 remaining in the game, the Yellow Jackets took a 2-point advantage after a made three, 72-70, and never relinquished it; taking a 77-72 victory from the Big Blues.
For the game, the Big Blues shot 38.7% from the field, 36% from three, and 83.3% from the free-throw line. The Yellow Jackets out-rebounded the Big Blues 43-37 and turned the ball over only 10 times compared to the Big Blues' 17 turnovers.
Freshman Chas Harvey (pictured) tied his career high in points with 32 points on 12-for-22 FG's and 5-for-7 from three. He also had 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Senior Avery Holliday had 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist. Holliday was perfect from the free-throw line going 8-for-8.
Senior Aaron Williams had 8 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block. Junior Joshua Windham also had 8 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block.
The Big Blues next game will be on Sat., Jan. 16th against Wilberforce University at 7:00 p.m. in Wilberforce, OH.
