Box Score Phillipi, W.Va.- The Bluefield State Women's Basketball team lost to Alderson-Broaddus 54-106 tonight in Phillipi, W.Va.
For the game, the Lady Blues shot 34.6% from the field, 21.4% from three, and 75% from the free-throw line. The Lady Blues achilles heal was their turnovers with 29 in the game, compared to their opponents' 9.
Alderson-Broaddus came out strong with a 16-point advantage halfway through the first quarter. Their dominance continued in the second quarter, out-scoring the Lady Blues 31-17, and taking a commanding 62-30 lead at the half.
The Lady Blues struggled offensively in the third quarter, only able to put up 9 points, but played with their opponents' in the fourth quarter 15-19. The Lady Blues couldn't come back with the large deficit in the first half and lost the game, 54-106.
Senior Janae Williams (pictured) had 17 points shooting 5-for-11 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free-throw line. Williams also had 4 rebounds and 1 steal. Junior Tanasia Blake chalked up another double-double for the Lady Blues with 15 points and 12 rebounds. She also had 3 assists, and 1 steal. Junior Tierra Richberg was close to a double-double with 11 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 assist, and 1 steal.
The Lady Blues will play Warren Wilson College on Sat., Jan. 9th at 1:00 p.m. in Asheville, NC.
