Box Score Belmont, NC- The Big Blues lose an overtime thriller at Belmont Abbey. The game was tied at 90 going into overtime, but the Blues fell 107-104 in the end.
Foul trouble was the name of the game early for the Big Blues. The Blues ended up committing 16 team fouls in the first half alone. Multiple people were in foul trouble and Coach Jackson had to go to his bench early. Mark Durgan ended up playing very limited minutes in the first was actually held scoreless through the first 20 minutes of action. But Freshman Chaz Harvey kept them in the game scoring 16 of his 23 for the game. With Harvey's performance, the Blues were only down by 8 at halftime.
But the Blues did not let early foul trouble hinder their second half performance. Durgan did a complete 180 and went off in the second half. He scored 30 points which helped BSC crawl back and tie the game. At the end of the second half the score was tied at 90. But as alluded to earlier, foul trouble came back to hurt the Big Blues. Chaz Harvey, Avery Holliday and James Day all ended up fouling out in overtime. The Crusaders were able to make their free throw shots and the game ended 107-104.
