Box Score Greeneville, TN- The Big Blues lose a high scoring affair to the Tusculum Pioneers by a final score of 100-92.
The Big Blues were looking to string together a couple wins for the first time since mid-December but came up short, as they could not produce the same offensive firepower they had on Saturday.
This game was very much back and forth through much of the beginning of the first half as the Big Blues were able to keep pace and neither team was able to build more than a 6-point lead. The teams were deadlocked at 26 with 8:16 on the clock when Derrek Farr hit a 3. But the Pioneers were able to battle back and took back the lead with 6:48 left in the half. From that point forward Tusculum would not surrender the lead. Tusculum was able to take a 52-44 lead into the locker room.
The second half was a little better offensively and defensively for the Big Blues. Avery Holliday was able to finally get on the score sheet after being held scoreless in the first half. BSC's defense also intensified, as they were able to get 8 of the Pioneers 11 turnovers in the 2nd half. But the 8-point half time deficit was just too much and the Blues lost 100-92.
Mark Durgan once again was the team's leading scorer and got 46 points during the game, 26 of those coming in the second half. His 46 on the night was half of the Big Blues offense on the night. Durgan went 18-32 from the floor while also adding 2 3's. He also was 8-11 from the charity stripe.
The Blues are back in action tomorrow for their final game of the 2015-2016 season at home against VA-Lynchburg. This game was one of the one's rescheduled from January when a winter storm hit. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 after the women's game.
