Men Finish Strong in Victory Over Chowan

Blacksburg, VA- The Men's Tennis Team took on the Chowan Hawks on the campus of Virginia Tech. The men continued their winning streak by defeating a tough Chowan team by a final score of 7-2.

The Blues started off slow in the doubles matches when the #1's of Carey and Yuldashev lost in the tiebreaking set 9-7. The #3's of Rudenco and Gud were in a dogfight as well when they went to a tiebreak and won 9-7. With this win, the Big Blues were able to go up 2-1 when the singles segment got started.

But when the singles started the Blues were completely focused and were dominant through out. Carey, Braem, Yuldashev and Gud all won their matches in 2 sets. Rudenco and Pulido both had fantastic matches, both going 3 sets. Rudenco came storming back after losing the 1st set to win his next 2. Pulido also went to a 3rd set (shorten tiebreak set). The tiebreak was very close as both players were gutting it out but Pulido fell 10-8.

The men will be back in action for their home opener Friday, March 4th at 1:00 against Davis & Elkins.

Gud (BSC) def. Yeh (CU): 6-2, 7-5

Proulx (CU) def. Pulido (BSC): 6-3, 6-7, 10-8 (shortened tiebreak set)
