The Big Blue Fall to The Lions

BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield State men's basketball team started their season against Lincoln University at Ned E. Shott Gym Monday evening, 111-92. The Big Blue drops to 0-1 at the start of the season, while the Lions improve to 2-0.

 

Monday evening, The Big Blue had a tough time finding their rhythm against the Lions. Only collecting 39 points in the first half, The Big Blue came out in the second half and fought all the way until the end, however, they just couldn't find a way to come out on top.

 

The Bluefield State offense worked seamlessly as numerous players scored in double digits, led by Junior Marquez Cooper whose 19 points were the most for The Big Blue Monday evening. Junior Alex Nunnally and Sophomore Taj-maal Toney posted 15 points each, and Senior DJ McDonald followed behind his teammates with 14 points.

 

The season will continue on Wednesday, December 30 with the first road game of the year for the Bluefield State men's basketball team at North Carolina Central University. The Big Blue with face the Eagles at McDougald-McLendon Arena.
