Box Score BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield State men's basketball team fell in their third game of the season against King University at Kline Gym Saturday evening, 106-82. The Big Blue drops to 1-2, while the Tornados improve to 1-2.
Saturday evening, The Big Blue were battling yet again with the Tornado but this time the outcome was different than they expected. The men went into the half down against the tornado, 39-50. In the second half, the Tornado continued to pull away from the Big Blue, answering from their loss Friday evening.
Aside from the loss, numerous players were in the double digits. Alex Nunnally led the Bug Blue tonight with 17 points. Followed by Marquez Cooper with 14. One less behind Cooper was Darren Crump with a season-high of 13 off the bench. Following him was Taj-Maal Toney with 12.
Micheal Mays carried his team the entire night, racking up 28 points tonight. Tonight was a replica of last night when it came to the game inside the paint. The Big Blue pulled away with a 40-36 advantage with points in the paint. The men also managed a 21-17 advantage in fast breaks but just couldn't finish it to pull out the win.
The season will continue on Wednesday, January 20 with the second road game of the season for the Bluefield State men's basketball team at Carsen-Newman. The Big Blue with face the Eagles at Holt Fieldhouse.
