Box Score BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield State women's basketball team powered through Kentucky State Wednesday evening at Ned E. Shott Gym to grab their first win of the season, 61-41. The Big Blue improve to 1-5, while the Thorobreds drop to 0-3.
Wednesday evening, The Big Blue came out and went up 14-0 at the beginning of the first quarter. Continuing the drive, the Big Blue managed to go into halftime still on top, 20-12. With a 16-4 advantage in turnovers and 16-6 advantage with points in the paint, the Big Blue found themselves on top at the end of the game for the first time this season.
Although there weren't many players in the double digits tonight, the majority of the Bluefield State bench managed to score tonight. Leading the Big Blue tonight was yet again

Big production by the Big Blue defense managing to hold the entire Thorobreds bench to under 10 points. Stopping leading scorer A'Zia Reed to score only 7 points when she led her team with 15 in their previous game against Texas A&M International.
Derricka Bramwell led the Big Blue in rebounds tonight with a total of 8, 5 defensive, and 3 offensive.

The season will continue Friday, January 22 at home against Concordia. The Big Blue will face the Cardinals at Ned E. Shott Gym at 7:00 p.m.
