Box Score 2 BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield State Volleyball team (6-8) captured two against Calment College (5-21) and Pikeville (4-20) (6-10) on Saturdays Tri-match. The Big Blue defeated the Crimson Wave, 3-2, and the Bears 3-1 in Ned E. Shott Gym.
The Big Blue will be back in action Friday evening when they host Salem. The match is set for 7:00 p.m. in Ned E. Shott Gym.
"Really proud of the girls today. We did a really good job of being resilient in our offense today. We were able to mix up our shot selection and keep both teams out of system," said Head Coach
Savanna Hammond.
The Crimson Wave Struck first and took set one, 26-24. The Big Blue answered with set two, 25-21. Calment waved back in set three, 25-20. The Big Blue fought to force a fifth match, 25-23. Bluefield State battled to close the match in set five, 17-15.
Kate Dashevska led the Big Blue once again with 28 kills and 13 digs, giving her another double-double this season.
Dajah Farmer missed a double-double by one less kill. Farmer ended the night with 9 kills and 19 digs.
Veronica Butler also collected 10 digs in match one.
Maria Castorena led the Crimson Wave with 13 kills and 22 digs, earning a double-double.
"We were also able to get a few more touches on defense which was a big step for us that we've been working on in practice. Really proud of their tenacity today," said coach Hammond.
Match Two

Taylor Sams also had 13 digs in today's second match.
Dajah Farmer finished it off for the Big Blue with 11 digs.
