Box Score BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield State Volleyball team (7-8) handed Salem a loss Friday evening in Ned E. Shott Gym, 3-1.
The Big Blue will be back in action Saturday evening when they host Ferrum. The match is set for 7:00 p.m. in Ned E. Shott Gym.
"Tonight was a great game! Offensively, we saw some great things that we've been working on in practice. It was great to see it all come to fruition," said Head Coach Savanna Hammond.
The Tigers Struck first and took set one, 25-19. The Big Blue answered with set two, 25-20. The Big Blue fought to take sets three and four, 27-25, 25-15.
Kate Dashevska led the Big Blue once again with 24 kills and 19 digs, giving her another double-double this season. Allison Austin missed double digits in Kills by two with eight Kills tonight. Dajah Farmer followed with 16 digs.
Anna Esquivel collected 14 digs. Veronica Butler also collected 13 digs in tonight's match.
Danielle Burns led the Tigers with 10 kills. Deyaneira Gomez-Salgado dominated in digs tonight, collecting 29.
"Allison had a really great night playing defensively at the net and being available on offense. Very proud of the girls," said coach Hammond.
