Volleyball Captures Second Weekend Win Over Ferrum

Box Score BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield State Volleyball team (8-9) captured their second win in a row Saturday evening over Ferrum (6-17) in Ned E. Shott Gym, 3-2. 
 
The Big Blue will be back in action Sunday evening when they travel to face Emory and Henry. The match is set for 5:00 p.m. in Meadowview, Virginia. 
 
"Tonight was a defensive battle. Our pins did a great job being consistent. We had a few moments that we had to overcome and the girls just dug deep and stayed committed to the plan," said Head Coach Savanna Hammond.
 
The Panthers Struck first and took set one, 25-19. The Big Blue answered with set two, 25-14, and set three, 25-20. The Panthers took set four, 25-23 forcing set five. 

The Big Blue went on to win set five, 15-12.

Kate Dashevska led the Big Blue once again with 21 kills and 17 digs, giving her another double-double this season. Dajah Farmer missed double digits in the Kills by three. Farmer collected 18 digs and 7 kills. 

Anna Esquivel collected 23 digs. Veronica Butler also collected 17 digs in tonight's match. 
 
Taylor Joyner led the Panthers with a double-double. Joyner collected 11 kills and 15 digs.  

"Tonight was a great win for the girls," said coach Hammond.
