EDINBORO, Pennsylvania — The Bluefield State women's basketball team dropped their first regular-season game Friday afternoon to Edinboro University in McComb Fieldhouse, 60-72.
"Tough loss, but I saw some great things today. I always tell my team to play hard, play smart and play together. If they do at least two of those then that will give us a chance to be victorious in each game. Once we can put all three together, we're going to be a scary team," said head coach
Paul Davis.
Freshman guard
Azariah Binford led the Big Blue with 15 points.
Katrina Davis added 11 points.
Londen Coleman dominated in boards tonight with 14 rebounds.
Bluefield State shot 34.9 percent from the field (22 of 63), while Edinboro University shot 41.3 percent (26 of 63).
"I sent them a text after the game: Regardless of the score today, I am still proud of you all. We are still learning each other and this will be a process. Get 1% better each day."
The women will travel to Erie, Pennsylvania for a Saturday night game against Gannon University. The Big Blue and The Golden Knights are scheduled for the first tip at 7 p.m. in The Hammermill Center.
