FAIRMONT, West Virginia — The Bluefield State men's basketball team fell in overtime Sunday afternoon at the Joe Retton Classic to Edinboro University in Feaster Center, 104-113.
Freshman forward Landry Palata dominated in the paint leading the Big Blue with 27 points and seven rebounds. Hirotaka Ohashi added 18 points. Marquez Cooper and Desmond Freeman also added 16 points.
Kesean Robinson fell short of a double-double with seven points and six rebounds.
Bluefield State shot 44.9 percent from the field (40 of 89), while Edinboro University shot 51.3 percent (39 of 76).
Deonte Robertson led the Tigers with 30 points and 14 rebounds, earning a double-double. Dominque Keyes dominated in boards for the Fighting Scot's with 18 rebounds and adding 19 points.
The Big Blue added to their lead late in the second half when Ohashi made both of his free throws. With three seconds left in the half, Jordan Hinds fouled Jaryn Simpson sending him to the line to shoot three free throws. Simpson made all three shots, sending the game into overtime.
The Big Blue couldn't find that third wind to hang on in overtime.

The men will travel up the West Virginia road for a Tuesday night game against Concord Unversity. The Big Blue and The Mountain Lions are scheduled for the first tip at 7:30 p.m. in the Carter Center.
