BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield State women's basketball team dropped to Johnson C. Smith in Ned E. Shott Tuesday night, 63-58.
After a JCSU missed bucket and a rebound by London Coleman Dani Janutolo drained a three to tie it up 7-7, at the 5:42 mark of the first quarter.Â
The Big Blue finished the quarter ahead, 16-14.
The second quarter belonged to the Big Blue. They outscored the Big Blue 16-14 and went into the locker room with a four-point lead at 32-28.
The start of the second half brought a battle between leads.Â
But the Golden Bulls took the lead and ended the quarter at 46-44.
The women refused to give up, tying it back up early in the fourth quarter, 50-50 at the 5:15 mark.Â
They fought the Golden Bulls neck-and-neck through the final five minutes but got outscored 17-14 in the fourth quarter.
Ashlie Louden led the Big Blue with 16 points on 6-14 shooting. She added three rebounds and two steals in 29 minutes.
Derricka Bramwell came off the bench to score ten points. She also grabbed ten rebounds, recording her first double-double of the season in 20 minutes.
Azariah Binford played almost the entire game, scoring eight points. She also collected six assists. Â
Alexus Tucker also scored ten points in 33 minutes. She was 2-7 from the three-point line.
Katrina Davis added six rebounds and seven points in 32 minutes. Â
Overall, the team shot 20-50 for 40%.
They were 10-29 for 34.5% from the three-point line.
And 8-10 for 80% from the free-throw line.
